WDMD 312
Web Design III emphasizes the concepts and techniques of programming interactive web sites, including the logical flow of computer processing steps, and the concepts of object-oriented programming. These techniques will be put into practice via extensive study of database queries and basic structure (mySQL) and server-side programming (php, asp.NET and C#).
In addition, we will focus on further developing our ability to:
- Critically identify, select and use the appropriate programming and scripting languages to develop interactive web and digital media;
- Compose basic SQL statements to input, update, delete and query data in a relational database;
- Demonstrate the ability to effectively use the elements of the object-oriented paradigm;
- Demonstrate basic project management skills including planning, organizing, leading and controlling;
- Demonstrate the ability to critically analyze complex situations and identify feasible courses of action within given constraints;
- Demonstrate the ability to innovate in unfamiliar or uncomfortable situations in order to progress without the fear of failure.
We will use a variety of in class exercises, shorter assignments, and larger projects to accomplish these goals.
