In many shared hosting environments many complex components like Kunena and Community builder will require more than 30 seconds to install, causing them to fail.

As an alternative to Joomla's default installation process perform the following:

1. Upload the entire package by FTP to a temporary directory
2. Unpack/unzip the files using a command line prompt or through your host's cPanel
3. Use Joomla's "Install from a Directory" feature

This process eliminates the time involved in uploading the files and decompressing them. This will almost always save enough time in the installation process so that it will run in less than 30 seconds.

Depending upon your host, you may also be able to modify your memory allocation and timeout defaults using your php.ini or .htaccess files.
